Outdoor First Aid
Course Overview:
The Outdoor First Aid (OFA) course is the most comprehensive first aid training for those in the outdoors. It covers various CPR and first aid skills and equips outdoor first aiders with the knowledge to apply first aid to specific injuries and illnesses. It is for those operating in situations where a number of hazards may be present within an outdoor environment.
The Outdoor First Aid course is suitable for individuals or groups that undertake activities outdoors and enables employers to meet their first aid needs assessment.
The Outdoor First Aid requires a minimum of 16 hours over 2 days of training and requires 100% attendance. The course will be delivered using a variety of methods including:
- PowerPoint Presentations
- Flip Chart Exercises
- Guided Group Discussions
- Guided Group Activities
- Practical Demonstrations and Training
The Outdoor First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of successful completion of the course.
Course Prerequisites
Every candidate attending an outdoor first aid course must be 16-years-old.
Topics Covered:
You will learn how to provide first aid in an outdoor environment to casualties, including the management of unconscious casualties, CPR,bleeding, shock, minor injuries, a variety of first aid related incidents and medical conditions in the outdoors.

- Photographic Identification (must be shown to the trainer on the first day of the course)

Course Assessment:
The competence of each learner is continually assessed by the trainer during the course. Learners will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the topics covered through written multiple-choice theory question paper as well as practical demonstrations of first aid skills.
